“It’s Fourth of July weekend, or, as I call it, Exploding Christmas.” -Stephen Colbert
Make sure that your pets are safe this 4th of July!
Here are some tips that will help keep your pets safe this weekend:
Keep proper identification and updated information on your pet with identification tags.
Microchip your pets and make sure all the information is up to date and correct.
Have a current photo on hand of your pets in the event your pet does get lost.
Make sure your fences are secure. Walk your fences before the 4th to check for holes, weak spots or broken places where pets could potentially escape.
Kennel your pets or create an escape-proof safe room for them to stay in on the 4th of July.
Play some background noise, such as the radio, while they are at home.
If you have a sedative prescription, make sure to use that as directed, or try some over the counter medications. Best Friend Nutrition: The Natural Pet Market in Sequim has some options available.
Above all, keep your pets at home. This is the safest place for them to be during this time.
The Pacific Northwest Veterinary Hospital staff all want to wish you a Happy 4th of July! Stay safe and have a great weekend.
